Tight buffer extrusion for indoor cable production.
Your partner in fiber production technology
OFC 42 tight buffering line
Flexible tight buffer extrusion for indoor fiber optic cable production.
Indoor fiber optic cable designs require protected, easy-to-handle fibers that can be processed into compact cable constructions without compromising quality. Tight buffered fibers, semi-tight buffered fibers, and micro-sheath bundles all place different demands on material selection, layer structure, fiber handling, cooling, and production flexibility.
Tight buffering adds the protective buffer around the optical fiber before it is used in indoor cable designs. The process must support different fiber types, e.g. single and multimode fibers.
OFC 42 Tight Buffering Line is designed for tight buffer, semi-tight buffer, CFU compact fiber unit and soft bundle extrusion. With modular line components, broad material compatibility, optimized pay-off and take-up systems, spray cooling, and optional fiber up-coating, OFC 42 supports flexible and efficient indoor cable manufacturing.
multiple buffer types
Produces tight buffered fibers, semi-tight buffers, CFU compact fiber units and soft bundle products for a wide range of indoor cable designs.
material versatility
Supports single and dual-layer buffer constructions with materials such as PA12, PE, PVC, FEP, HFFR, TPE, and UV-curable acrylates.
spray cooling
Spray cooling with small water droplets supports efficient cooling, lower line tension, easier drying, and a compact line footprint.
fiber upcoating
Optional fiber up-coating adds protection, improves stripability, and enables additional indoor cable production possibilities.

advantages of the OFC 42 tight buffering line
Flexible tight buffer extrusion for indoor fiber optic cables
Protected fibers for indoor cable designs
OFC 42 produces the protective buffer around optical fibers, creating tight buffered, semi-tight buffered, and soft bundle products for indoor cable applications. This gives manufacturers flexibility to prepare fibers for different cable structures and production requirements.
Wide material compatibility
OFC 42 supports a broad range of materials, including PA12, PE, PVC, FEP, UV-curable acrylates, and other indoor cable compounds depending on the product design. This material flexibility helps manufacturers cover different indoor cable requirements on one adaptable line concept.
Spray cooling and short footprint
The spray cooling system uses fine water droplets to increase cooling efficiency and reduce tension increase in the product. This supports stable tight buffer quality while enabling a more compact line setup compared to conventional cooling concepts.
Fiber upcoating and continuous production
The optional Fiber Up-Coating System can apply a UV-curable acrylate or silicone layer before buffering, improving stripability and adding protection in demanding environments. Dual take-up for continuous production and traversing support stable winding quality for tight buffer products.
