OFC 60 jacketing line
Protective jacketing technology for fiber optic cables
The final jacket turns a cable core into a finished fiber optic cable ready for installation and long-term use. Direct-buried, duct, aerial, metallic, non-metallic, and high-density cable designs all place different requirements on protection, material selection, cable handling, and production efficiency.
Jacketing and sheathing are the final protection steps in fiber optic cable production. Depending on the cable design, the process may need to integrate extrusion, tape application, armoring, aramid yarn serving, jelly filling, cooling, and continuous cable handling in one reliable production line.
OFC 60 Jacketing Line is designed for flexible sheathing of a wide range of fiber optic cable designs. With configurable extrusion, crosshead, tape handling, armoring, aramid yarn, jelly filling, cooling, accumulator, and take-up solutions, OFC 60 helps manufacturers produce reliable finished cables with the protection and productivity required for demanding applications.

advantages of the OFC 60 jacketing
final jacketing for fiber optic cables
Reliable outer cable protection
OFC 60 applies the final protective jacket or sheath to fiber optic cables, transforming the cable core into a finished product. The line is designed for a wide range of cable types, including direct-buried, duct, aerial, metallic, and non-metallic cable designs.
Configurable extrusion and jacketing design
At the heart of OFC 60 is Rosendahl’s extrusion expertise. The line supports extrusion of PA, PVC, TPE, LSOH, PBT, PP and many other compounds, with customized screw design, linear output, melt temperature and pressure indication, and operation-friendly extruder adjustment.
OFC 60 can also be configured with NXH or RX-series crossheads for different sheath constructions, including round cables, one-layer and two-layer sheathing, skin coloring, striping, and 8-figure sheathing.
Protection options
Depending on the cable design, OFC 60 can integrate tape application, corrugation, seam sealing, armoring, aramid yarn serving, and jelly filling into the production process. This gives manufacturers the flexibility to build mechanical protection, water blocking, and cable strength into one customized sheathing line.
Stable process
Consistent jacketing depends on steady cable movement. OFC 60 controls cable speed and tension from pay-off to take-up, while optimized cooling helps the sheath set correctly. Product storage accumulation can keep the line running during reel changes, supporting smoother production with fewer interruptions.
Jacketing of super bundles for datacom cables
As datacenter architectures scale and bandwidth demand continues to grow, cable designs must carry extremely high fiber counts without increasing cable size. Modern high-density fiber optic cables can contain up to 13,824 optical fibers within a cable diameter of under 40 mm, depending on the cable construction.
This level of density is engineered step by step: fibers are first organized into rollable ribbons, grouped into cable-ready bundles, combined into super bundles through SZ super-bundling, and finally protected with a robust outer jacket. The jacketing process is the final step that transforms the stranded super-bundle core into a finished datacenter interconnect cable.
OFC 60 Jacketing Line supports this final stage by applying the protective outer sheath with controlled extrusion, stable cable handling, and flexible line configuration. The result is a mechanically robust, structurally stable, ultra-high-fiber-count cable designed for demanding datacenter interconnect and high-capacity network applications.
